Smokers agree to the deal.
Javelinas get a good power bat who comes with a long term contract at a very reasonable price. Hard to replace that kind of pop.
But we wanted youth, talent and arms. We got all three with Pederson, Nelson, Cole and Lively. McLouth fills an OF hole for us and is a throw-in for salary reasons, as was Hawkins. This is the first of a series of trades for us, hoping to get younger, cheaper and more talented players we can control for a while.

Once the deal is approved, we ship Joc Pederson OF/LAD, AJ Cole SP/WAS and Ben Lively SPCIN to our minor league facility in Ybor City.
We place Nate McLouth OF/BAL 2014-2015: $5m 2016: CO $6.5m and Jimmy Nelson SP/MIL on our MLB roster to fill slots vacated by Bruce and Hawkins.
