Third-Year Fantasy Baseball Dynasty Seeks a Few Solid Owners
Founded in the summer of 2013 and designed to begin competitive play for the 2014 season, the New Wellman Dynasty is a great place to show off your passion and knowledge for fantasy baseball. With a total of 24 teams, 12 per league (AL and NL), Wellman mimics most of what goes on in the real Major Leagues with a slightly smaller league size for more competitive rosters and better relationships between General Managers. The league scoring follows head-to-head scoring with most traditional categories with some substitutions to try and capture the most important statistics of the game for authentic matchup outcomes.
During the season, General Managers care for the day-to-day operations of their respective teams. They manage their 25-man active roster, call-up players, demote players, make trades, waiver claims, and sign in-season free agents. They also are responsible for setting their daily lineup on ESPN in hopes of making the playoffs and being crowned league champion. Half the league makes the playoffs, 6 from each league, so not as many teams tank as in other dynasties.
In the off-season, the league slows down a bit as the season has come to an end, but not altogether. General Managers are preparing to take part in the NFAD (non-free agent draft) in which teams have the ability to select any player drafted in the most recent MLB Draft or any international signing since the last NFAD. Also, free agency takes place usually right after the start of the new year. Teams bid on players while staying under the $100 million cap limit.
All and all, Wellman is a great place to expand on your interest in baseball and fantasy baseball. General Managers maintain a great level of competition, and it would be a tremendous challenge to throw yourself into the mix. From time to time, openings come up in which we need to replace a General Manager who has decided to leave the league for whatever reason. Please visit newwellmandynasty.proboards.com, create an account, and contact Ben of the Kansas City Royals via personal message for more information on the league and available teams. Thank you.
open teams: O's, Astros, Twins, Braves
