9 Teams placed waiver claims. It starts with the players posted first, who went to the claiming team with the lowest ranking in the standings. That team then was sent to the bottom of the claim order, and everyone else bumped up one. That is how this list was developed.
Claims: SP Eduardo Rodriguez - Rawhide OF Kevin Kiermaier - Red Barons MI Enrique Hernandez - River Bandits MI Jean Segura - Blue Sox OF Marcel Ozuna - Biscuts OF Jarrod Dyson - Javelinas RP David Robertson - Biscuts RP Andrew Miller - Biscuts SP Justin Verlander - Javelinas C Wilson Ramos - Braves CI Trevor Plouffe - Red Barons SP David Price - Biscuts SP Jeremy Hellickson - Rawhide RP Drew Storen - Biscuts MI Jace Peterson - Spirits OF Oswaldo Arcia - River Bandits28 CI Pedro Alvarez - Red Barons SP Johnny Cueto - Biscuts CI Mark Trumbo - Knights
Any Player not listed above, placed on revoacble waivers, has cleared waivers and is eligible to be traded to any team.
I AM EXTENDING THE DATE OF TRANSACTIONS FOR REVOCABLE WAIVERS 1 DAY, so anytime between Now and 8/28 midnight, limited transactions may take place.
Smokers revoke waivers on Eduardo Rodriguez and await a trade offer from Rawhide. We are supposing that is the correct procedure. Unsure how this is handled. We, of course, are open to trading Rodriguez, just don't know when we are supposed to pull the guy off waivers.

Biscuits has claimed a bunch of guys without the cap to take all of them on. I doubt he's planning on waiving Strasburg, Tulowitzki etc., but even then it'd be tough to do all the guys he's claimed.
If everyone let him have their guys, he'd be well over the cap. That leaves me with the question of what is the penalty going to be if someone claims a guy that they don't have the cap room to take on?
If teams can just claim guys they can't afford, it makes this whole system a bit pointless. So, even if everyone revokes his guys from waivers and frees him from going over the cap, then those bids have still had the effect of blocking further deals during this period.
I think in the future this system would work better if teams had to have the cap room already for all the guys they claim. Perhaps we should have a buyout/waiver deadline in advance of revocable waivers so that everyone's cap situation is clear before claims are made.
I assume it was strategic on biscuits part, I'm sure he doesn't expect all of his claims to be released to him. I am curious about the penalties though, I would assume he just couldn't accumulate stats if he went over his cap without fixing it? However this may benefit teams that are looking to tank. That's a separate issue though...
it would be useful to know the penalty, partly for the future, but also for now. it effects the trade equation a lot for the penalties to be out there if a player doesn't get revoked. he might have to make a deal just to not be forced to waive a bunch of guys.
Agree, the penalty should be clarified ASAP!!!! As an aside, I don't think the Biscuts put anyone on revocable waivers, so his ability to "make a deal" is, essentially, ZILCH. It looks to me that if he is even stuck with one guy that he claimed, he has to start releasing some big / long term contract guys.
Situations like this are never good for the team, or the league. It screws up the whole waiver process for everyone. I garee with the suggestion that you can only "win" guys that you have the cap + expiring contracts (who can easily be released now) to cover.

I say screw him over with one of those big contracts (Andrew Miller), much the way the Blue Jays screwed over the Padres in 1998 by letting them have Randy Myers and his $12M+

I didn't put any claims in simply for the reason that I only have $8M+ in cap space and didn't want to get stuck with a player that put me over my cap forcing the release of other player/s.

Eh, I probably wouldn't do that solely for that reason, but its not out of the question that I consider it since there are other incentives for me to do it as well. I have enough closers that AJ Ramos is currently on my bench so I don't lose much this year by moving him up to cover the loss.
The penalty factors into a trade deal quite significantly both to motivations and types of deals, so its a key component to know. The penalty has to be more than loss of points this year for going over the cap, because otherwise it makes the salary cap somewhat meaningless for any team out of the playoffs. Even more so since this is the end of the season. So while I'd prefer a different system, if this is how we do it, the penalty is a key component.

The way we did it last year was, only if you were letting the player walk did you need to post. The assumption is 99% of the players claimed would be pulled back or traded
Prospect Signing Period this week! Lets spend those extra $$$

BlueSox GM(Matt P): I have fought tooth and nail to keep this league going through COVID and the loss of my wife. At this point, I cannot continue this way. If someone wants to take the reigns they can, but at this point I would consider this league folded.

BlueSox GM(Matt P): I know of leagues looking for new owners if anyone interested.

BlueSox GM(Matt P): It'll be two years this March, Pete, but it's been a difficult haul handling that and two teenagers, and four leagues where I was commish, and pseudo 2nd in charge in Triple Play and Splendid. It got to the point where I was dreading 2022 baseball.
Feb 1, 2022 21:46:26 GMT -5
BlueSox GM(Matt P): Any managers looking for a new league should reach out to SandGnats Matthew as he is still actively recruiting for TriplePlay which is very similar to this league.

Generals GM (Pete): MattP, must have missed it when it happened. I am sure you have your hands full plus dealing with the grief. Fantasy baseball should be a temporary escape for everyday stress, not something that adds to it. Stay strong.
