Generals and Pelicans have agreed upon the following trade, which will be completed after the draft since one player is pending another draft related transaction.:
Pelicans Trade: MI - Brandon Phillips 15: $12M; 16: $13M; 17: $14M SP - Jake Arrieta 15: Tagged Player/Braves Tag (with the RFA tag) Alen Hanson SS-PIT
In return the Generals Trade: MI Tommy LaStella PP 2015-2018 $0.5 SP Danny Salazar Cle 2015-2017 PP $0.5 (To Be acquired by Generals in Handshake agreement) SP Ricky Nolasco Twins 2015-2016 $2.1
Still in rebuild mode, this deal gives me Hanson, a top 100 prospect, and Jake Arrieta with the tag, which hopefully nets me either a decent contract or at worst some draft picks. Phillips was more of a salary dump, but I think he has value if he rebounds and I have cap space, so I either hang onto him or try to flip him down the road. I didn't like giving up Salazar, but I view Arrieta as a good more expensive replacement. LaStella's role is unclear with his recent move and Nolasco can be a nice cheap bounceback or a dud.
Thanks and good luck to the Pelicans

I accept. I really like Salazar and the cap space I get from this move. To me Salazar could be as good as Arrieta or even be better and I saw glimpses of his promise down the stretch last year. LaStella to me starts as the Cubs 2B next year as I think Baez will be moved for pitching. Nolasco is a nice fill in for my rotation as well. I hate to give up Hanson, but he is probably 2 years away and is blocked at the big league level.
Thank you Generals and good luck on the rebuild
