Hitters RFA Bidding: Bids Jan 12 - Jan 16 (Tag holders have through Jan 19 to designate match or compensation... failure to specify leads to automatic compensation) Pitchers RFA Bidding: Bids Jan 19 - Jan 23 (Tag holders have through Jan 26 to designate match or compensation... failure to specify leads to automatic compensation) RFA Rules : ruthianrotobaseball.proboards.com/thread/8/7-restricted-free-agencyUFA MI & CI: Bidding Feb 16 - 20 UFA OF + C: Bidding Feb 23 - 27 UFA SP: Bidding Mar 2 - 6 UFA RP: Bidding Mar 9 - 13 Rule 12 note: ruthianrotobaseball.proboards.com/thread/13/12-trading- there is a note at the very bottom of this rule that once a player is signed as an RFA or UFA they can't be traded until 30 days after the season starts. In honesty I didn't even try to enforce this last season, but I will look to do so this season. THE ONLY EXCEPTION: If you are working out a deal for an RFA for a sign and trade within the 3 day Window that the Tag holder has to decide to match, that will be acceptable. (I will be moving again in January, starting next weekend and carrying through January, so I may be a little slower getting bids in, which is why I am allowing Tag holders through Monday to decide whether they want to match.)

Just checking on THE ONLY EXCEPTION: So, for example, Nelson Cruz receives an offer of 5 years at $12M per. I could put those numbers up on my trade block and see what I could fetch as long as any deal was worked out in that 3 day window?

any chance we could start UFA bidding earlier? not that i'm in a rush so much as it looks like we'd have time to do MI+CI, and OF+C as four separate weeks, one for each position, MI, then CI, then OF, then C, instead of the combined weeks where we do multiple positions each week.

That schedule may be more for Jimmy and Mrs. Jimmy's sanity more than anything else. Or so people can start seeing how spring training battles are going.

if jimmy's got his own personal schedule stuff, i have no problem with that. all the hitters go in feb tho even in the current schedule, so spring training won't be relevant either way.

But otherwise, yeah, I'd like to keep the ball rolling too. If Jimmy's schedule allows it, or he wants to nominate a surrogate to process the bids, so be it.

there's no rush. i just preferred to do one position each week rather than two in one bidding period. and we have time to do that since we basically have a few weeks off right now and will have a dead period in the league till mid-feb. it also would help keep up league activity in that time. if its bad for jimmy's schedule, we can wait no problem. i can just focus on other leagues and come back to this one in a few weeks which is what i expect others will do as well. it wasn't about a rush in any case, but just we had the extra time, so spacing things out and doing some of them now and some later, instead of combining them doing them all later was the main idea, plus keeping interest in the league up too.

I'm thinking 6 weeks into the season Matthew. I can work on concrete dates when I post for the season schedule.

There are a lot of guys that are going to contribute in the majors those 6 weeks while they are sitting on waivers.

we did the first round of prospect bidding last year at the end of may. i assumed it would be the same this year so those 6 weeks or whatever seem right. i get matthew's point that maybe there are guys that could be owned sooner but i didnt think that was ever part of the plan. its like in triple play where we don't do bidding until later on during the season. i mean i guess i wouldn't be opposed to a change here if there was some consensus, but i think what jimmy's saying is in line with what was planned, so it would be a change of plan to do it differently.

I am moving the timeline up from last year so we can avoid things like the Solarte contract again. I am open to doing it 4 weeks into the season, but I figured some guys would like to see more time/reports on the prospects. The MLB contributors from last season were fairly marginal.
Unless there is an overwhelming majority opinion, I will probably stick with the 6 weeks...

Maybe open up prospect bidding for any player with MLB service time?

I kinda like gnats idea. guys with no service time have to wait until regular spec bidding, but guys with service time (but still under 150/50 obviously) could be spec bid on during the regular weekly bidding. we could leave the same schedule as last year too for the rest of the specs that way and do them in late may/early june when we have seen them a little.
